{"id":14672,"date":"2020-05-14T01:25:42","date_gmt":"2020-05-14T05:25:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/airpurifierspecialist.com\/store\/?p=14672"},"modified":"2020-09-10T19:11:08","modified_gmt":"2020-09-10T23:11:08","slug":"ontario-adopts-emergency-order-allowing-control-of-covid-19-outbreaks-at-long-term-care-homes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/airpurifierspecialist.com\/store\/ontario-adopts-emergency-order-allowing-control-of-covid-19-outbreaks-at-long-term-care-homes\/","title":{"rendered":"Ontario adopts emergency order allowing control of COVID-19 outbreaks at long-term care homes"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>TORONTO &#8212;<br \/>\n\tThe Ontario government has adopted an emergency order that will allow it to appoint a manager to oversee the response to COVID-19 at long-term care homes struggling to deal with an outbreak.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThere have been 249 outbreaks at Ontario\u2019s 626 long-term care homes and the sector now accounts for more than three quarters of all COVID-19 deaths.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tIn a press release issued on Wednesday morning, the province said that the emergency order will \u201csupport the use of rapid, immediate and effective management alternatives to protect residents and staff within a home\u201d when necessary.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tAt this point it is unclear whether the province has any immediate plans to appoint someone to lead the response to COVID-19 at one of Ontario\u2019s long-term care facilities.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&#8220;We are doing everything we can to fortify the iron ring of protection around our long-term care residents and the heroic frontline staff who care for them. By taking this step, we will be better prepared to immediately swing into action if a home is struggling to contain this deadly virus,\u201d Premier Doug Ford said in the release.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe provincial government has previously adopted emergency orders restricting the movement of staff between long-term care homes and enabling the redeployment of hospital staff to address staffing shortages.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tIn the release, Minister of Long-Term Care Dr. Merrilee Fullerton said that the latest emergency order is \u201canother step\u201d to \u201censure homes are provided with the support they need at this challenging time.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/toronto.ctvnews.ca\/ontario-adopts-emergency-order-allowing-control-of-covid-19-outbreaks-at-long-term-care-homes-1.4937144\" class=\"button purchase\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Read More<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TORONTO &#8212; The Ontario government has adopted an emergency order that will allow it to appoint a manager to oversee the response to COVID-19 at long-term care homes struggling to deal with an outbreak.
