Finlandia Village Nursing Home declared an outbreak of COVID-19 on Saturday, in response to an employee testing positive for the virus through\u00a0the ongoing targeted surveillance of long-term care home staff and residents.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The latest case was a Greater Sudbury woman in her 30s, who works within the administration department located in the Lepokoti apartment building, as confirmed by Finlandia Village later that day.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She was tested on May 6 and was asymptomatic but has since been instructed to self isolate,\u00a0said the press release. Prior to that, she has\u00a0had no direct contact with residents and always worn a mask since pandemic protocols were put in place.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Public Health Sudbury and Districts cannot say how the woman was exposed as she is not believed to have been in close contact with another confirmed case and has not recently travelled.<\/p>\n

All residents in the Hoivakoti Nursing Home have all tested negative for COVID-19.<\/p>\n

There are now four active outbreaks at long-term care homes in the area, following the resolution of one, directly related to four active cases among residents and seven among staff.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
