{"id":14146,"date":"2020-05-08T10:37:00","date_gmt":"2020-05-08T14:37:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/airpurifierspecialist.com\/store\/?p=14146"},"modified":"2020-05-18T01:00:18","modified_gmt":"2020-05-18T05:00:18","slug":"covid-19-death-toll-in-waterloo-region-passes-100-as-officials-report-10-new-cases","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/airpurifierspecialist.com\/store\/covid-19-death-toll-in-waterloo-region-passes-100-as-officials-report-10-new-cases\/","title":{"rendered":"COVID-19 death toll in Waterloo Region passes 100 as officials report 10 new cases"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>KITCHENER &#8212;<br \/>\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.regionofwaterloo.ca\/en\/health-and-wellness\/positive-cases-in-waterloo-region.aspx\">Region of Waterloo Public Health officials reported<\/a> another 10 cases of COVID-19 on Friday, bringing the total number of cases in the region to 897.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThree of those cases were transmitted through the community, while three others are attributed to an outbreak at a long-term care or retirement home.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThere are still active outbreaks at 11 of these facilities in the region.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe region reported three more deaths from the virus on Friday, pushing the death toll to 101.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThree more deaths have been reported at Trinity Village LTC, where 13 people have died from the virus.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tRegional officials also reported another 18 resolved cases on Friday for a total of 436. That means there are 360 active cases in the region.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tAs a province, Ontario saw a spike in cases on Friday as it reported 477 new ones.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThat&#8217;s the highest single-day increase since May 2, and brings the total number of cases in Ontario to 19,598.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tSixty-three more people have died in the province for a total of 1,540 deaths, while 13,990 people have recovered.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<strong>COVID-19 by the numbers:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\t41 people in hospital as of Friday<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t152 cases hospitalized at some point, 52 in the ICU<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t269 cases reported in health-care workers<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t528 cases attributed to long-term care or retirement home outbreaks<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tAbout 40 per cent of cases are still active; 49 per cent are resolved, 11 per cent have died<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t23 per cent of cases identified in people aged 80 or older<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t18 per cent of cases identified in people aged 50 to 59<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t61 per cent of cases identify as female<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kitchener.ctvnews.ca\/covid-19-death-toll-in-waterloo-region-passes-100-as-officials-report-10-new-cases-1.4930711\" class=\"button purchase\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Read More<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KITCHENER &#8212; Region of Waterloo Public Health officials reported another 10 cases of COVID-19 on Friday, bringing the total number of cases in the region to 897.
