{"id":13966,"date":"2020-05-07T10:42:00","date_gmt":"2020-05-07T14:42:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/airpurifierspecialist.com\/store\/?p=13966"},"modified":"2020-05-18T01:09:24","modified_gmt":"2020-05-18T05:09:24","slug":"twelve-children-infected-with-covid-19-in-quebecs-first-daycare-outbreak","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/airpurifierspecialist.com\/store\/twelve-children-infected-with-covid-19-in-quebecs-first-daycare-outbreak\/","title":{"rendered":"Twelve children infected with COVID-19 in Quebec&#8217;s first daycare outbreak"},"content":{"rendered":"<div itemprop=\"articleBody\">\n<p>Quebec has recorded its first COVID-19 outbreak at a daycare, says the director of public health for the Lanaudi\u00e8re region.<\/p>\n<p>The daycare centre \u2014 an emergency childcare service for essential workers in Mascouche \u2014 was closed on Monday, Dr. Richard Lessard said in a virtual news conference on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Mascouche is 50 kilometres northwest of Montreal.<\/p>\n<p>Twelve out of 27 children contracted COVID-19, as did four employees, Lessard said. No one was hospitalized.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Twelve out of 27 children contracted COVID-19<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The first case was confirmed on April 30. The children have been in quarantine at home since then.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe can expect more outbreaks in other daycares,\u201d Lessard warned.<br \/><\/br> And as \u201cthis is the first case in Quebec, it will be thoroughly investigated,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>It is not yet known how the first child in the daycare was infected. Work is underway to identify the starting point, Lessard said.<\/p>\n<p>Lessard recommended the daycare, attached to \u00c9cole Mennais, be closed for 14 days.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The Lanaudi\u00e8re public health department is postponing the reopening of schools and daycare service<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Because of an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in the region,\u00a0the Lanaudi\u00e8re public health department is postponing the reopening of schools and daycare services in three regional county municipalities: Joliette,\u00a0Les Moulins and Assumption.<\/p>\n<p>They had been scheduled to reopen on May 11.
