{"id":12371,"date":"2020-04-21T10:37:00","date_gmt":"2020-04-21T14:37:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/airpurifierspecialist.com\/store\/?p=12371"},"modified":"2020-05-20T19:03:22","modified_gmt":"2020-05-20T23:03:22","slug":"covid-19-cases-rise-by-25-in-waterloo-region-officials-report-4-more-deaths","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/airpurifierspecialist.com\/store\/covid-19-cases-rise-by-25-in-waterloo-region-officials-report-4-more-deaths\/","title":{"rendered":"COVID-19 cases rise by 25 in Waterloo Region, officials report 4 more deaths"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>KITCHENER &#8212;<br \/>\n\tIn the weeks since the first confirmed case of COVID-19 appeared in Waterloo Region, the area has surpassed the 500 case mark.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tOn Tuesday, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.regionofwaterloo.ca\/en\/health-and-wellness\/positive-cases-in-waterloo-region.aspx\">public health officials reported that<\/a> an additional 25 people have tested positive for the virus, and there have been four new COVID-19 related deaths.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe latest cases bring the local total to 528, rising from 503 confirmed cases on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tOf those, 184 cases have been marked resolved.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tOne of those deaths were reported at\u00a0 Forest Heights Revera long-term care home, bringing the total number of fatalities there to 12.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tOutbreaks have hit many long-term care and retirement homes, where physical distancing is very difficult.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tAt a news conference on Monday, Ontario public health officials said that, <a href=\"https:\/\/kitchener.ctvnews.ca\/ontario-s-community-covid-19-cases-appear-to-have-peaked-officials-say-1.4904975\">while the community transmissions in the province appear to have peaked<\/a>, the curve in these care facilities is still on the up-swing.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tIn Waterloo Region, there are still 12 active outbreaks at long-term care and retirement homes. Outbreaks at five have been declared over.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tOver the weekend, public health reported its <a href=\"https:\/\/kitchener.ctvnews.ca\/covid-19-in-waterloo-region-16-more-cases-death-toll-rises-to-27-1.4903569\">largest single-day jump<\/a> with 75 cases in one day.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tOfficials attributing the jump in cases to expanded testing in priority groups, especially people in long-term care and retirement homes.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tCOVID-19 was first reported in Waterloo Region on March 5, after a woman who travelled to Italy tested positive for the virus.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tOntario <a href=\"https:\/\/toronto.ctvnews.ca\/38-new-deaths-and-551-more-cases-of-covid-19-in-ontario-1.4905201\">reported 551 new cases on Tuesday<\/a>, as well as announced 38 more deaths from the virus.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThere are now 11,735 cases of COVID-19 in the province, including 622 deaths and 5,806 recoveries.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<em>This is a breaking news update.
