{"id":11933,"date":"2020-04-15T16:16:19","date_gmt":"2020-04-15T20:16:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/airpurifierspecialist.com\/store\/?p=11933"},"modified":"2020-05-25T11:20:56","modified_gmt":"2020-05-25T15:20:56","slug":"50-covid-19-cases-resolved-only-5-active-cases-currently-in-kingston","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/airpurifierspecialist.com\/store\/50-covid-19-cases-resolved-only-5-active-cases-currently-in-kingston\/","title":{"rendered":"50 COVID-19 cases resolved, only 5 active cases currently in Kingston"},"content":{"rendered":"<article>\n<p>Almost all of Kingston\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/tag\/covid-19\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">COVID-19<\/a> cases are resolved as of Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>According to new numbers released by <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/tag\/kfla-public-health\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">KFL&#038;A Public Health<\/a>, there were no new cases identified in the region between Tuesday and Wednesday \u2014 the region\u2019s total still stands at 55.<\/p>\n<p>However, five more cases were deemed resolved Wednesday, bringing that total up to 50, which means there are only five active cases of the novel <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/tag\/coronavirus\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">coronavirus<\/a> in the city.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s good news, considering testing criteria has widened, and actual testing has considerably ramped up in the region, according to Dr. Kieran Moore, medical officer of health for KFL&#038;A Public.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cT<b><\/b>he guideline for who gets at the actual test has increased. So it\u2019s fever and or cough and\/or increased difficulty breathing,\u201d Moore said.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cAnd there are some other associated symptoms that we\u2019re allowed now to test for, such as a progressive sore throat, hoarseness to the voice, increasing cough like a croupe-like cough.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As of Wednesday, 2,023 tests had been administered in the region. It\u2019s been good to date,\u201d said Moore, saying that he won\u2019t really be able to relax until later in next week, when the virus\u2019 incubation ends.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<b><\/b>I\u2019ll be happy this Saturday and Sunday if the numbers continue not to rise. Immunity is still very, very low,\u201d Moore said.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cSo we\u2019re all at risk still for this infection. We\u2019re still going to have to practice physical distancing of two metres or a hockey-stick distance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Moore said there\u2019s still no clear framework on how the region, the province and the country will try to re-introduce things that have been cut out in efforts to slow the spread of the virus, but every level of public health is working on it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur world has changed and we can\u2019t let up just yet. And it will have to be a slow and phased response to alleviate or remove some of these measures that have been put in place,\u201d Moore said.<\/p>\n<p>He added that for the most part, large jumps in COVID-19 numbers in other communities have mostly been due to outbreaks at long-term care facilties, like those seen in Leeds, Grenville and Lanark.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re all learning that once this virus gets into a vulnerable population, it can spread very, very quickly. So the numbers in Leeds Grenville don\u2019t necessarily mean there\u2019s large communities spread, it just means that they\u2019ve sadly had a couple of outbreaks in vulnerable populations,\u201d Moore said.<\/p>\n<p>As of Wednesday afternoon, the rural region has over 200 cases of COVID-19, and has seen 25 conavirus-related deaths.<\/p>\n<p>The Kingston region has only seen one outbreak at Providence Manor, which was limited to a staff member and was lifted Wednesday.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cA<b><\/b> lot of it is is can be luck. Luck favors the prepared, and I think our our facilities have been very good at preparing and protecting at present. But this could happen any day in our region.
