Ontario issued a second province-wide emergency alert regarding coronavirus<\/a> Saturday afternoon, advising residents to stay home amid the pandemic.<\/p>\n

\u201cStop the spread. COVID-19 can be deadly,\u201d the message read.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe time to act is NOW. Everyone but essential workers need to stay home. Only go out if absolutely necessary to pick up groceries, prescriptions, or go to a medical appointment. Ignoring self-isolation or physical distancing advice can have devastating effects and endanger lives.<\/p>\n

During a press conference earlier Saturday, Premier Doug Ford announced his government would be issuing the message.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf it takes mass messages to every single person in Ontario to save even one life, I\u2019m prepared to do that,\u201d Ford said.<\/p>\n

It was the second emergency alert the province has sent out regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

On March 27, the government sent out an alert to cellphones, radios, and TVs notifying travellers returning to Ontario that they must self-isolate for 14 days.<\/p>\n

It told them, \u201cDO NOT visit stores, family or friends.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Ontario reported 375 new cases of coronavirus Saturday morning, including 27 deaths.<\/p>\n
