{"id":11444,"date":"2020-04-11T19:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-04-11T23:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/airpurifierspecialist.com\/store\/?p=11444"},"modified":"2020-05-25T11:37:34","modified_gmt":"2020-05-25T15:37:34","slug":"greater-sudbury-ramps-up-testing-for-covid-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/airpurifierspecialist.com\/store\/greater-sudbury-ramps-up-testing-for-covid-19\/","title":{"rendered":"Greater Sudbury ramps up testing for COVID-19"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-words=\"548\" id=\"details-body\" itemprop=\"articleBody\">\n<p>COVID-19 testing is now available for anyone who has a symptom possibly related to COVID-19 infection, effective immediately and until further notice.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Please be advised that for the safety of both patient and medical personnel, walk-in appointments have been strictly prohibited.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs part of the expanded testing announced provincially yesterday, northern communities have a time-limited opportunity to access ramped up testing in what\u2019s called targeted surveillance,\u201d said Dr. Penny Sutcliffe, Public Health Sudbury and Districts officer of health.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is a recognition that we are at a different stage of this outbreak in the north and we need better data to contain the spread and understand how public health measures are working.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis means that people with even mild symptoms can make an appointment at an assessment centre for testing. I am encouraging people in our area &#8211; whether you think you have COVID-19 or not &#8211; to arrange for testing. This will help us understand and better control our local situation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Testing is available for anyone who has any of the following symptoms:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>fever\/ chills<\/li>\n<li>cough<\/li>\n<li>difficulty breathing\/ shortness of breath\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>fatigue<\/li>\n<li>muscle aches<\/li>\n<li>loss of appetite\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>sore throat\/ hoarse throat<\/li>\n<li>runny nose<\/li>\n<li>loss of taste and smell<\/li>\n<li>nausea or diarrhea<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Individuals who are having difficulty breathing or are experiencing other severe symptoms are asked to call 9-1-1.<\/p>\n<p>In most cases, anyone who tests negative for the virus must self-isolate for a minimum of 24 hours after their symptoms have subsided while those who test positive must self-isolate for a minimum of 14 days from when their symptoms began.<\/p>\n<p>Close contacts of an individual who is \u201cswab-pending\u201d should also self-isolate until results are known, while those who have been in close contact with a symptomatic patient should self-isolate for 14 days.<\/p>\n<p>Everyone who undergoes testing will be contacted by Public Health Sudbury and Districts with case-specific instructions.<\/p>\n<p>The period of communicability for COVID-19, or infectious period, is from 48 hours prior to symptom onset to 14 days after symptom onset.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Those looking for more information on whether they should seek medical attention for non-urgent symptoms are encouraged to call the COVID-19 assessment centre, use the online <a href=\"https:\/\/covid-19.ontario.ca\/self-assessment\/#q0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">COVID-19 self-assessment tool<\/a>, call their health care provider, or phone <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ontario.ca\/page\/get-medical-advice-telehealth-ontario\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Telehealth Ontario<\/a> at 1-866-797-0000.<\/p>\n<p>General information on
