The outbreak at Prince Albert’s Albert Victoria Hospital has been declared over by the Saskatchewan Health Authority.
The outbreak was declared after a single patient tested positive for COVID-19 on April 29. They were admitted to the hospital on April 21 for a non-COVID-19 related medical need.
Dr. Khami Chokani, a medical health officer, declared the outbreak over after no cases of COVID-19 were discovered either in patients or health care workers within a 10-day exposure period.
“This is a definite testimony to diligent PPE [Personal Protective Equipment] use and good environmental maintenance by all the teams,” he said.
Staff who had been in close contact with the patient began self-isolating and were tested. Contact tracing and investigation began immediately.
