There are three more confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Sarnia-Lambton, while three more people have recovered.

Lambton Public Health reported Tuesday night, that there are currently 181 cases locally and that 87 people have recovered from the virus.

The death toll has remained at 14 since April 20.

The health unit said 1,968 tests results have come back and that 91 percent of them have been negative.

There are three outbreaks in seniors’ facilities in Sarnia. The latest was declared on Monday at Sumac Lodge.

Medical Officer of Health Doctor Sudit Ranade told Sue Storr on CHOK (103.9 FM, 1070 AM) that infection control measures were already in place at the Blackwell Road home.

“There’s visitor restrictions, staff restrictions, and then the other basic things are to make sure that the home is following really good infection prevention/control practices,” said Ranade. “Sometimes those change based on the nature of the disease that’s circulating through the home, but there are some basic principles and then some additional things. And then the other piece is to have sort of that active awareness level in the facility and make sure you’re looking for people who might have symptoms, recording them, getting them tested or treated as soon as possible.”

The other institutional outbreaks are at Landmark Village, and Vision Nursing Home.

Bluewater Health reported Wednesday that 11 people are in hospital with the virus, while 13 are suspected of having it with tests pending.
