A COVID-19 outbreak declared at a Sarnia retirement home over a month ago is now over.

Lambton Public Health updated its website Wednesday night to report that Landmark Village is no longer dealing with an outbreak of the novel coronavirus.

The outbreak was issued on March 26. There was a total of 40 confirmed cases at the seniors home, 30 among residents and six deaths.

There’s now just one institutional outbreak locally. At Sarnia’s Vision Nursing Home four residents and two staff members tested positive. There have been two deaths at the long-term care home this week due to COVID-19.

Long-term care outbreaks at Sumac Lodge and Lambton Meadowview Villa were previously declared over.

The health unit reported one more confirmed case for a total of 193 in the community, 126 people have now recovered, and there have been 16 related deaths since the pandemic started.

Lambton Public Health has received the results from 3,525 COVID-19 tests, of which 95 per cent have come back negative.

Thursday morning, Bluewater Health reported there are seven people in hospital confirmed to have the virus, and 14 patients are suspected of having it with tests pending.
