Remdesivir, chloroquine/hydroxychloroquine…lots of drugs are being touted as “cures” for COVID-19. But what are doctors actually using to treat the virus in the clinic? In this video, you can learn more about current treatments and new clinical trials – including a trial at UC San Diego.
This video was filmed on April 16, 2020. Preliminary clinical trial results have indicated that chloroquine/hydroxychloroquine are not very effective at treating the SARS-CoV-2 virus, and can lead to serious negative side effects. Another preliminary clinical trial at University of Chicago Medicine has shown promising results for Remdesivir as a potential treatment.
