Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe and the province’s chief medical officer of health Dr. Saqib Shahab are expected to provide an update on the latest COVID-19 cases in the province and to discuss the government’s ongoing response to the pandemic on Friday.

Nineteen new cases were reported in Saskatchewan on Thursday, 15 in the far north and12 in the La Loche area, raising the province total to 531.

Active cases in the province total 196, with 138 ( 70 per cent) in the far north.

Officials had said they expected an increase in the number of cases in La Loche and surrounding communities due to active case testing and contract tracing.
